Cedar Class - Y3

WELCOME TO CEDAR CLASS!

We are having fun working with Mrs Hammond and Miss Harrison. We are working on our  History Topic - INVADERS AND SETTLERS.

Homework is to spend at least 10 minutes on TIMES TABLES ROCKSTARS this weekend (click here for the site)  and to read for 10 minutes on each day.

 

You could also start practising for our handwriting and poetry competitions

We shall start looking at purple mash this week so let your parents know that I have put the user's guide on the PARENTS' INFORMATION STAR so that they can help you. Don't forget that the login for you and your parents is in the front of your diary.

In Literacy, we shall be writing kennings (Viking poetry).

In Topic, we shall be using timelines to show the invaders and settlers who created Britain.

In Maths we shall be investigating adding and subtracting  ten and hundred to 3-digit numbers. We shall then be ordering and comparing numbers.

Please come to school wearing your PE kit.

ESPECIALLY EXCITING

HANDWRITING COMPETITION

 

At the end of the month we will choose two winners for our handwriting competition. One prize is for the neatest writer and the other prize is for the most improved. If you want some extra practise, go on to the the HOMEWORK STAR and then click WRITING - or ask me for some photocopies.

 

 

POETRY DAY - 1st OCTOBER

 

NATIONAL POETRY DAY is on THURSDAY 1st OCTOBER. We shall be making this a fun morning with poetry writing activities and a performance from ROGER STEVENS, a published poet. As part of the day we shall be holding a bubble competition. The children can choose to learn a poem to perform, with expression and actions.
