Cedar Class - Y3

WELCOME TO CEDAR CLASS!

    We are all working hard and having fun with our teachers -  

               Mrs Hammond, Mrs Jenner-Dyer (on Fridays) and Mrs Harrod.

 

This half term we shall begin by completing our learning on Hinduism and shall involve looking at one of the festivals celebrated by Hindus. 

 

Then our second topic is North America, with a focus on Mexico and looking at the story Coco.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - WE HAVE JUST BOOKED OUR FIRST TRIP - TO CRESSWELL CRAGGS ON MARCH 3RD 2020. THIS WILL LINK IN TO OUR TOPIC 'STONE AGE TO IRON AGE' AS CHILDREN WILL BE ABLE TO VISIT A CAVE WHICH HAD REAL STONE AGE PEOPLE LIVING IN IT!

WHAT ARE WE UP TO THIS WEEK?   

 

Week  Beginning  11/11/19:

 

 

 

In Literacy, we shall writing a character description for an imaginary character from 'Coco'. 

In Topic, we are learning about the wider world - identifying continents  and countries, with a particular focus on the continent of North America. Using PowperPoint in ICT, we shall then be making presentations that develop our knowledge of Mexico.

In Maths, we are continuing to learn how to use the column method for addition. On Fridays, the maths topic is length and weight.

WHAT DO YOU NEED ON FOREST FRIDAYS?

YOU MIGHT GET MUDDY; SO PLEASE BRING TO SCHOOL, IN A NAMED PLASTIC BAG:

  • Old clothes (trousers and long sleeved top)
  • Another pair of shoes (wellies or old trainers etc...)
  • A waterproof coat (this can be the one that you wear to school or a different one if you don't want that to get muddy)

 

Please make sure that all of your clothes are labelled with your name

so that we do not lose anything when we get changed!
